Heritage Project 2021Dromod Parish
About the Project:
The aim is to record the history and heritage of the Dromod Parish through the collection of the co-ordinates of old homes where families once lived.
Most of these houses are in disuse and in danger of disappearing, losing all trace of the great people and characters who once lived there. The coordinates are a way of documenting where these families once lived.
Also, documented is the situation of wells, ceallúnigh, other sites and information of interest. By recording this valuable information we ensure that it is not lost and forgotten and it is made available for future generations to access through this website. This is your heritage to either record or lose.
This is an ongoing project and all information is welcomed – email: dromodheritage@gmail.com if you would like to become involved in this project or contribute information about your area or family or if you think any of this information is inaccurate and needs amending. All input welcome!
We would like to acknowledge John Creedon and Loch Con Aorta, a small village in Connemara for inspiring this project.
