Old house of Paddy Daly’s Grandparents

This is the house of our great great grandparents; Micheal Daly, known as Micheal Fada and his wife who was O’Shea from Machairnane. It is now used as an animal shed.
Droumnakilla
A blacksmiths stone used to make the wheels of carts. The hub went into the middle and they lit a fire to expand the iron. It was placed beside the water because once the iron expanded it had to be cooled straight away.
The Lios
The Lios is the Irish for fairy fort. There is a ring of trees. There are dykes in a ring inside. This Lios is one of three fairy forts in Islandboy. This Lios is twice as big as the other two. The three are along the banks of the Inny River. One was on the land of Micky Daly but is no longer there. The other small one is on the land of Donie O’Shea. The field around the Lios was called Páirc an Liosa.
